Sharing @huwsgarden photos from Huw’s account as feeling proud to be a small ingredient of this polyculture project. The pictures were taken in 2025 after they hand dug three swales and planted them up with herbs, vegetables, poplar and alder trees. The result is a colourful cornucopia of plants, produce and foliage.
Our natural paper mulch was used to stop grass from taking over on the swales.
I’ve bought Huw’s books before (“The Vegetable Grower’s Handbook” and “Veg in One Bed”) and he now has a new one out, titled “How to Grow Food” written with @chef.sam.black I’m particularly interested in the polyculture chapter, as would love to achieve this kind of mad abundance that’s so visually spectacular!
