Tollicroft Fruit and Veg in Dingwall
Tollicroft in Dingwall provide veg boxes - delivered weekly to Ross-shire (withing 10 miles of Loch Ussie). Fortnightly deliveries to Inverness by arrangement.
They are a small and friendly family run croft in the heart of Brahan, producing seasonal fruit and vegetables. They have soft fruit for pick your own in summer, grow seasonal root vegetables for veg boxes throughout the winter (until end April and hand reared pork is also available when in season and grass fed lambs are fattened for Spring. They use the Lightweight Cornstarch biodegradable Film.
Roberts Farm Shop | Pumpkin Patch
I was already as proud as a pumpkin this season because so many farms have converted to using the lightweight cornstarch film for their businesses. But seeing this photo, what an image! Taken by @robertsfarnshop who will be getting their pumpkins ready for picking, any day now.
Power up your Pumkins
We copy what the larger growers do and use the biodegradable Lightweight Cornstarch Film for our pumpkin patch. It can be rolled out by hand as well as machine laid and the results each season are so satisfying. The film maintains its mulching efficacy for no less than four - six months and no more than nine - twelve months, depending on moisture, soil activity and other variables. But what we can say for sure, is that this film works perfectly for growing pumpkins!
Planting Garlic
It's garlic planting time again. Give them a greater chance to grow big, strong and weed free whilst impressing yourself and neighbours with the neatest of rows. All ages and even the most fidgety will find this project satisfying. Roll the pre-punched paper mulch, use a dibber in the soil and plant those onion cloves in one by one..

The Cycle is Complete...
We planted onion bulbs back in early Spring with the Pre-Punched paper. Mulch is so good for that all important establishment phase, less energy is wasted on competing with weeds (for the onions and us!)
